The Black Hawks won five consecutive USHL championships during the 1960s (1963/64 through 1967/68) when the league featured “senior” skaters. The high level of competition in that era featured many players who had completed successful college hockey careers at a time when the NHL had as few as six teams.
In 1977, the USHL merged with the Midwest Junior Hockey League and spent 1977/78 and 1978/79 transitioning from having some “senior” players to all juniors. Waterloo won the league playoff title in both of those seasons, as well as the regular season championship in 1978/79.
During the succeeding decades of all-junior play, the Hawks have won four titles: one Clark Cup (playoff) and three Anderson Cups (regular season). The players whose names are etched on those trophies appear below:
